I'm Lillian and have been working in the beauty industry as a hair and makeup artist for over 25 years. I first began my career as a hairdresser in some of Brisbane's most prestiguous salons including Oscar Oscar and Stelios Papas which gave me the foundation on which I have built my hair and makeup career. I started working in television in the late 90's which opened the door to working on many productions both national as well as international. I feel blessed to be able to do what I am so passionate about, even all these years later.

I am based in Brisbane and mostly service the South East Queensland area however am available to travel both interstate as well as to international destinations.

There’s something I love about seeing a bride’s wedding photos for the first time.

I already know how she felt sitting in the chair that morning. The excitement, the nerves, the anticipation… and then that moment when she looks in the mirror and a vision comes together.

It’s not just about beautiful hair and makeup.

It’s the feeling of being completely confident in yourself. Of feeling like you, just elevated. And that confidence has a way of showing up in front of the camera.

I always look forward to seeing the photo previews from my brides because I know they’re going to capture something special. That feeling of being beautiful, confident and completely present in one of the biggest moments of their lives.

And you can see it.

It’s in their posture. Their expression. The way they carry themselves.

The hair and makeup might be what I notice first, but it’s the confidence underneath it that really shines through in the end.

When you get to work with your longest standing work bestie (26+ yrs at least) after what feels like forever and you remember how easy a frantically busy day unfolds smoothly like it somehow always does when we work together.

I got an email update today in response to a recent donation to Bloom Asia. They told me it’s already been put to good use and they sent an update on one of the girls in their care. Here she is learning to make sugar art flowers in her hospitality class and apparently she is brilliant at it.

I’m in the process of building a workshop for teenage girls called GLOW. 🌟

It’s a 5-hour experience for girls aged 12–14 that covers the fundamentals of hair and makeup but that’s not really what it’s about. At its heart GLOW is about identity. About helping young girls understand who they are before the world tells them who they should be. Built on the truth that they were created with purpose and that no filter or follower count changes that.

🚨 Something I wish every woman knew before she sat in my chair.

MAKEUP DOESN’T FIX SKIN — it amplifies it.
After 30 years of being a hair & makeup artist, that’s the one thing that still surprises people most.

Dry, flaky, dehydrated skin doesn’t disappear under foundation. It shows up more. The best makeup application in the world can only work with what’s underneath it and if the skin hasn’t had any attention, it unfortunately will show. 🫣

If you have a big event coming up that you’re getting your makeup done for, you’d Ideally start a consistent skin routine 3 to 6 months before.

Cleanse, exfoliate gently, moisturise, drink your water. Give your skin time to actually change….not just look temporarily better.

But if that ship has sailed, here’s your minimum for the 24 hours before your appointment:

— Gentle exfoliation to remove dead skin
— A good moisturiser, applied and absorbed properly
— Ditch the caffeine and alcohol
— Replace both with water

I meet most of my clients for the first time in my chair. I want that moment to be about making you feel incredible, not working against skin that needed a little more love beforehand.

Your skin is the canvas. Let’s make it a good one. 🤍

For as long as I can remember, beauty has been my work. But somewhere along the way I started asking a question I couldn’t ignore……what if it could be more than that?

It started with Bloom Asia. A small, quiet pull toward an organisation doing extraordinary work in Cambodia reaching women and girls trapped in exploitation and giving them a pathway to dignity, safety and a future they couldn’t see for themselves.

I didn’t have a grand plan. I just knew I wanted my work as a hair & makeup artist to do something beyond my own four walls. That feeling was the beginning of what I now call ‘Beauty with Purpose’.

It’s taken some time to find its shape. But it started with a simple conviction that beauty, in the truest sense, has always been about helping someone see their own worth.
